Emma filed for, and was granted, a pension, in 1891. An application number is given to each applicant, her's was 526362. A certificate number is given to each person a pension is rewarded, her's was 659595.

From this Muster Roll we can see William W Reed enlisted in the US Army, as a private, on August 2, 1862, in Pennsylvania. He enlisted in company F in the 127th Infantry. On December 14, 1862, he was promoted to 1st Lieutenant. We can also see he survived service on the Union side of the Civil War. His captain, Christian Nissley, is named at the top of this document. Captain Nissley is mentioned in the letters.

Harry Walmer’s Muster Roll for Civil War shows he was in Co E 36th Regiment Pennsylvania Militia in 1863. He was 18 at the time. His original enlistment was for 90 days.

From this document, we can see the date and the age that Henry Walmer enrolled in the army. We also see he enrolled as a Corporal in Hummelstown, Pennsylvania. The document also says the date at which Henry was discharged. 

This is William W Reed’s General Index Card. From this document we can see he was in Company F, 127 Pennsylvania Infantry,  as a Sergeant, then was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant in Company I
