Dear Miss Lydia
Your most welcome letter recieved A few moments a go. + was real glad to hear from you as usual. And hasten to reply as requested Well it gives me great pleasure to know that Miss Laura Pratt did not try to tear my play house57 down for I thought she would just for fun. So she has made a mash on Albert Harmon has. Well Iwill say as you have said I was glad she made a mash on him.
you dont think Sunday has come without you have a wreck it is getting almost that way with me- now I have a great deal of stuff to tell you A long that line some rumors has been going through the county has been playing the wild with me. but the whole of it is false you will know your selfe when you hear it. And you traded off one of your fellow at church + got a better one or worse which was it. but of coarse it was better. + you hardily think my sweethearts reads my letters when you read mine my weetheart reads them is it somebody elses

how do you know how may58 strings I have to my bow. I have but few now they have all broke.
I am sorry to hear that you have almost given out comeing to the fair I sertainly hope you will for I have been counting on haveing a good time talking to you all through fair. I will come over in time for the Reunion I want to come on Saturday [crossed-out] before which will be next Saturday but Laura wants to come on Monday afterwards but I am
going to try + come then perswade her to come go on Saturday + if she fooles with me much I will come by my selfe on Saturday so look out for us one or just Ell one of the aforesaid days. Oh a young man over here has been talking of comeing with me if he can get off hunt him a hoelly60 girl that wont be much trouble in Floyd as thare are plenty + aught have some to spare so good bye hopeing to see you soon
